AIKIDO
Classes for Families, Teens and Adults
Aikido Classes Provided by East County Budokai: www.ecbudokai.com
These classes are managed and billed separately from the Guardian Academy programs.
The name "Aikido" translates into English
as "The Way of Harmony of the Spirit". In a purely
physical sense, Aikido consists of various throwing and joint
manipulation principles. These are based upon circular movements,
leverage, and blending with an attacker's energy to throw or
pin them. It is said that if you have the strength to lift 20
pounds, then you have the strength to practice Aikido. Because
of this, Aikido is suitable for everyone regardless of sex, age,
size or background.
In recognition that there is always someone who is larger, faster and stronger - Aikido emphasizes yielding, suppleness and finesse as opposed to brute strength. Classes are conducted in a semi-formal Japanese format to cultivate the proper "Martial Spirit" and for student safety. We also use proven traditional methods augmented by modern technology. We feature a systematic approach to learning with beginners' classes, video taping and plenty of INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION.
