Guardian Kempo

Vocabulary: A Guardian is "one who guards and protects." "Kempo" means "fighting principles." Guardian Kempo is "the fighting principles of one who guards and protects."

Guardian Kempo is the "master art" from which all the other Guardian Martial Arts flow. It is very complex, very demanding, and very difficult to master. However, those who accept the challenge find themselves on the path to a level of martial arts mastery that very, very few people even realize exists. Black Belts from other styles who have learned Guardian Kempo have expressed amazement at how much is contained in the art. Even masters who have observed the art and sat on the testing board for Soke Scot Conway have expressed their satisfaction with how well Guardian Kempo blends broad training with detailed skill.

Guardian Kempo draws from its roots in Chinese Kempo, Japanese Kenpo, Kung Fu, Aikido, Jujitsu and more - yet it avoids the classic trap of a "chop suey" system. Rather than a patchwork system of unrelated, different skills, Guardian Kempo builds mastery by teaching universal principles that apply across a wide variety of techniques. The Guardian Kempo Black Belt is comfortable striking, kicking, grappling, using weapons, fighting in street clothes, on stairs, in narrow hallways or any combination.

To start Guardian Kempo, one must first study Guardian Karate for two or more years, Guardian Jujitsu for two or more years, and Guardian Kobujitsu for two or more years. All three arts may be studied at the same time, so a student may qualify to begin Guardian Kempo training in as little as two years. Black Belts may be earned simultaneously in the other Guardian Martial Arts as the student continues study in Guardian Kempo.

A Black Belt in Guardian Kempo should take about four years from qualification to completing a Black Belt. Earning a Black Belt in Guardian Kempo is truly an astonishing accomplishment, but a very worthwhile one. A Guardian Kempo Black Belt will not only have a high level of physical skill and a broad range of skills, but command of the skills of psychology, finance, marriage, parenting, theology and more. A Guardian Kempo Black Belt will know a lot about martial arts principles, the concepts and how they apply in day to day life, and be a Black Belt not only in martial arts, but in Life.

To get past the rank of 3rd Degree Black Belt, a student must study Guardian Kempo. This is the ultimate martial art and life program at the school.

We tentatively plan to start a Guardian Kempo class in January 2008.
