Ten Reasons to Enroll Your Child in the Guardian Academy
TEN REASONS TO ENROLL YOUR CHILDREN IN KARATE AT

Why You Want Your Child Influenced by These Leaders... click here...

  1. Parent Star Power - We give Parents extra power with their children with Star Power. Kids start every week with THREE stars. Parents control two of them at home. If a child misbehaves, Parents can take stars away.
  2. Second Chance - If a child loses a star, Parents can give a child a chance to get it back. The most common technique is an extra chore AND fixing the behavior that cost the star.
  3. Parent Praise Power - If a child is good, Parents can award a Praise Card. Some Parents keep them posted on the refrigerator to fill them out when the child does something exceptional. Some Parents fill them out at the school. However you do it, children love praise!
  4. Shopping Day - Every eight weeks we host Shopping Day. Kids can spend their stars on toys, candies, and all sorts of prizes the children can buy. The kids LOVE this time. It’s when they get the rewards for their good behavior. Parents can use it to help motivate students by reminding them at home that their stars affect shopping!
  5. Headbands - Headbands (and Sleeve Stars for the Advanced Kids Classes) are based on behavior. Every child starts with a White Headband, and then works steadily to Black Headband over 6 to 12 months - all depending upon how many stars a child earns each week.
  6. Words - The eight words of Little Guardian Karate are Honor, Truth, Obedience, Responsibility, Helpfulness, Hard Work, Never Give Up. In Junior Guardian Karate, we add Respect, Growth, Humility, Trustworthiness, Contribution, Forgiveness, Kindness, Great Attitude. All the children learn the words and the meanings and say them when they do Basic Form.
  7. Leadership - Every child gets a chance to lead. The whole class is always very supportive (everyone knows they will have their turn!) and really encourages each other. The confidence this builds is incredible!
  8. Learning - Every child learns scripts, such as the “No Whining” script and the “Hard Work” script. These are powerful techniques to make lessons stick. Ask any child from the class “What’s the Rule on Whining?” and they will answer “No Whining!”
  9. Lessons - Children have a phenomenal ability to learn if things are explained to them with simple logic they understand. Of course, they are children, but with repetition and asking a lot of questions, it is AMAZING how well the children can learn the importance of school, responsibility, wisdom, and even how to start right now learning the skills they will need as adults.
  10. Example - Many Parents bring their children to the Guardian Academy so the kids can be exposed to good examples. The good examples range from the Junior Leaders and Assistant Instructors, to the personal character of Stewart True, up to the quality of the marriage of Scot and Wendy Conway. This is especially important for children from divorced families so that the children can see and learn more about how to behave toward their Parent and will be better equipped to have good relationships later in life.
