TRAINING CDs

Little Guardian Karate, Junior Guardian Karate, Guardian Karate and Guardian Kobujitsu are complex arts that have a lot of material to practice - at least for the age groups in question. (Little Guardian Karate has one form, but for small children, that's a lot.) We have put together training CDs that command each form, technique, skill set or other move series or combination move by move. This also sets the minimum pace for performing the skills.

The training CDs are not intended for someone to learn the moves. For one thing, it does not tell you whether you should move with your left or right side. However, for someone who has already learned a particular skill set, the training CD is an excellent reminder. If a strudent struggles with something, just put that skill set, form, or technique set on "repeat" and do it again and again until it flows naturally. It's a great aid!

CDs are provided free of charge, and students may trade them in for the next higher CD when they advance in rank.

COURSE NOTEBOOK

Little Guardian Karate, Junior Guardian Karate, Guardian Karate and Guardian Kobujitsu each have a course notebook. (We hope to have a course notebook for Jujitsu done in 2005.) The notebook includes a copy of scripts and skills, with a complete list of movements, for the kids classes. The adult program notebook includes skill lists, movement lists, and copies of the lectures. It is intended to assist students, not as a tool for learning the material. If a student has been taught the material in class, then the notebook is enough to refresh his or her memory.

CONSISTENT TESTING

Every four months, the Guardian Martial Arts programs have a test. This helps reinforce the material each program learns so every single skill is tested at every single belt, with the tests spread out rather than all at once. Thus students can focus on the new material they are learning and the material for the next evaluation. This helps increase total skill much more effectively than testing everything all at once. It also keeps the pressure on since there is a test or evaluation every four months and students will have to remember the material for the test again later.

VIDEOS COMING!

Also coming in 2008, we hope to have videos for Little Guardian Karate and Junior Guardian Karate. The videos for Guardian Karate and Guardian Kobujitsu will take longer.
